 The first family Telugu Lions club in the North America has been formed in Toronto, Canada. It is a new initiative from the International President, Lions Clubs International to form ethnic family lions clubs. Lion Dr. KVR Krishnaji, Special Initiative Coordinator, Team 20K, 2007, who visited North America in the month of July 2007 motivated and educated the Telugu families towards the lionism and to form this Lions Club
Lion, K G Ramakrishna Murthy, Chennai, India, and Lion Sri G Rama Swamy, Chennai, India shared the inspiring experiences to serve our community using the Lions Clubs international platform.
Special appreciation received from the Lion Mahendra Amara Surya, Lions club International President, Sri Lanka.
The Global Telugu Lions Club’s objectives are:

• Promotion of International Peace.
• Taking over community service projects back home in India as Janmabhoomi programmes.
• To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
• To encourage service-minded families to serve the Telugu Community here in Canada as well as in India.
• To Extend the Family clubs in the other communities in and around the Greater Toronto Area as well as in other provinces in Canada.

The Global Telugu Lions Club was inaugurated on November 24, 2007 by Lion Bill moody, New Clubs Development Consultant, and the past international director, at the RED ROSE Convention Centre, 1233 Derry Road, East, Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA. In his address, explained the concept and the history lions clubs, and its great services to the world community.
Telugu maestro Lion Dr. Gazal srinivas graced the occasion as the guest of honor. In his address, he told that he has been motivating and promoting Telugu family lions clubs in North America.
Lion Sri Surya Bezawada took over as the first president of the Global Telugu Lions Club, Toronto, Canada. In his address, explained the audience, how this idea of forming Telugu Family lions originated and he thanked all the people who were directly and indirectly involved in motivating the Toronto Telugu families to form this first family lions club in North America. |
